Nicolas Sarkozy and Carla Bruni ‘to have baby in 2011’

Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, first lady of France, seems like a very determined lady, but I wonder how far her determination will get her in her desire for a child at the age of 41. The French media are speculating that she is planning to have her first child with President Sarkozy in 2011 to aid the French president’s chances of clinching a second term the following year. Rumours that France’s first couple had set a precise date for starting a family were revealed yesterday by the popular weekly magazine Voici.

Quoting sources in the National Assembly, the lower house of parliament, Voici wrote: “The presidential couple are thought to have chosen to keep the ‘pregnancy card’ up their sleeve to ensure public sympathy ahead of the next presidential campaign in 2012. The rumour has been circulating for several weeks.”

Mrs Bruni-Sarkozy has made no secret of the fact that the couple hoped to have a child together.

“I’m not pregnant and I regret it because I love it when I am. Will it happen? It’s difficult for me to say. It’s much more difficult at 40 than it is at 25,” she said in an interview last year. Well yes indeed. And in 2011, two years from now  she will be 43.

However, she did say in an interview in March, that she would consider adopting a child if it was not “biologically possible” to have one with her husband.

It will be interesting to see how it all works out. Carla strikes me as somone used to getting her own way, although, as we all know, that doesn’t always work when it comes to fertility, however much we may want it to.

Yes – she may very well find that she is unable to conceive another child!

Does this world need yet ANOTHER Sarkozy? Of course not! I really hope she does not adopt either: poor kid! Poor, poor kid!

Can you imagine just being able to “decide” that you want to be pregnant at 43? I wish!
